Our goal at the BCF Writing Center is to enhance the quality of each student's writing ability by offering tutoring services to both on-campus and off-campus students.

There are several helpful handouts posted on the "APA," "MLA," and "Turabian" tabs as well as the "Grammar and Writing Information" tab, including citation guides and a list of excellent grammar websites students can access to find answers to many questions on their own.

The Writing Center Hours:

Until further notice, The Writing Center will be operating under modified hours. New operating hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Fridays. The Writing Center will be closed Monday - Thursday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. for lunch.

At this time, only one tutor is available, and only Zoom and attachment appointments can be made.

If a Writing Center appointment is required, please make appointments as soon as possible to assure that your paper can be reviewed.

If you have any questions, contact the Supervising Tutor, Melody Barney: mfbarney@baptistcollege.edu or (850) 263-3261, Ext. 543.

Paper Reading Procedure:

Tutors will not proof a whole paper.  Instead, tutors will check the first paragraph of shorter papers/first two pages of longer papers thoroughly.  Then, the tutor will offer suggestions to improve any problem areas needing attention.  The student will be responsible for proofing the rest of the paper and may ask specific questions about any area of confusion.  The WC staff will continue to offer helpful handouts for formatting issues.
Students are encouraged to schedule tutoring sessions to address chronic problem areas.

Appointments must be scheduled at least three (3) hours prior to the time the paper is due.  Students who do not show up for appointments the third time will not be allowed to make future appointments.  Instead, they will have to enter as walk-ins when tutors might be available to help them.
Note: Walk-ins will not be taken fewer than twenty-four (24) hours prior to the time the paper is due.

Make Appointments

You can schedule three types of appointments on www.baptistcollege.mywconline.com:
     1. In person
     2. Attachment review
     3. Zoom video (How to schedule a Zoom meeting)
The appointment schedule will display available slots as white; any slots that are darkened are not open. Because of high demand just before due dates for written assignments, the WC staff encourages all students to register on the online system during the first week of classes. Reserving required appointments early is also advised.

Walk-in appointments are NOT available on Fridays.
